in 1992, Debbie decided that after years of working for her parents' business, upon their retirement, she wanted to move into the kids clothing industry. Debbie began as a consignment store, literally on a “korner”, thus the name, My Kids Korner.
After a few months of being in the consignment business, Debbie decided it was time to grow a little more. She moved into a larger store, which was located on Haverford Ave, in the Overbrook Park section of Philadelphia. She was buying past season goods from high end boutiques from Chicago, Boston, and other cities on the east coast. Debbie did this for about 2 seasons, before deciding to move her business to yet another larger store, next to the one she was currently in. She decided that she also wanted to sell present season clothing. The store thrived for quiet some time!
In the fall of 2001, Debbie decided that it was time to move her business to the small town of Narberth, Pa. She changed her entire look and feel of the store. It became a fixture of the Main Line. The store was small and quaint, but filled to the top with high end clothing and gifts. After three years in that location, and Debbie's daughter, Mandy joining in the family business, they decided it was time to move the store to their current, and final location.
Currently Located at 711 Montgomery ave, in Narberth, My Kids Korner is now a Main Line destination, for moms, young boys and young girls, and specifically tweens.
My Kids Korner is currently run by Debbie Konowitch, along with her daughter Mandy Konowitch-Weisbruch, and their competent store manager, that has been with them for 5+years, Kate Schneider.
